Transferring Day, June 16th 2012

We took the mural design on paper and put it on the wall. Following the grid, we transferred the drawing block by block. By the last section of the wall, we were moving!

Priming Day: June 10th, 2012

We are not covering the entire wall for this mural, but limiting our design to a "wave" that runs across all 110 feet of the wall. If you join us for our painting day on June 23rd, you too can wear these attractive blue coveralls :)

Gridding Day! June 9th, 2012

Murals are math disguised as art! We spent most of the day creating a 2 foot x 2 foot grid on the wall that matched a 2 inch x 2 inch grid on our mural design.

Join us this Saturday for our first Community Painting Day! The third grade applied the first strokes of paint to the wall last week. This weekend we will continue. Come leave your mark on the wall.

Community Walk and Mural Tour

The skies cleared for a few hours on May 30th, just in time for the third grade muralists at PS 56 to go on a community walk and mural tour. Jane Weissman of Artmakers, Inc., gave us a tour of the mural "When Women Pursue Justice," located at the corner of Nostrand and Greene.
