Community Night: Together, we get ideas

Students, neighbors and friends gathered in the cafeteria on Thursday night to make artwork together, share ideas and talk about what they envision for the wall outside the school building. Here's a sampling of what they created:

Join us in the PS 56 Cafeteria (170 Gates Avenue) for art activities and sharing ideas for the mural project. All friends and neighbors of PS 56 who would like to be a part of this project are welcome.

3rd grade Community Walk

PS 56 3rd graders took a Community Walk exploring the question: What grows around us? Some groups looked on the ground, some looked up high, others looked for artwork and interesting places or people. We walked to Nostrand Avenue and Greene Street and met Jane Weissman, from Artmakers Inc., who worked on the mural When Women Pursue Justice.
